VetChoir UK is open to all involved with the veterinary profession, conducted by musical director Helen Styles.
Harbour Project
fundraiser for Ukraine
As musicians we have been thinking about how to respond to the ongoing war in Ukraine. For our next project, we invite all singers (not just those in the vet profession) to join us in singing the moving song 'Harbour' by Anna Tabbush. Normally for a project like this VetChoir members pay £30 each, but instead we are asking you to donate that amount either to our fundraising page for DEC or to a humanitarian charity of your choice.
Rehearsals (which are recorded so you can catch up if you miss one) on zoom

About Us
Our Choir
VetChoir UK was formed in November 2020 and is open to all involved with the veterinary profession whether currently practising or not! We are an online-only choir and have rehearsals via Zoom then record our parts individually to be woven into a full-choir performance so you can join us from anywhere in the country (or indeed the world!). Our first performance of Berlioz Shepherds’ Farewell has been viewed over 1000 times!
Rehearsals
We are an online-only choir so you can join us from anywhere in the country (or the world!). Our rehearsals are all recorded and practice resources are provided for every piece so that you can still participate even if you can’t make all of the rehearsals. At the end of each rehearsal period you record your individual part and send it in so it can be turned into a full-choir performance. After each rehearsal we all have a chance to have a chat and catch up (a vital part of any choir!). Live rehearsals are usually on Wednesday and Friday nights, with 4-6 rehearsals per project.
Our Musical Director
Helen Styles
Musical Director & Founder Helen Styles qualified as a veterinary surgeon from Cambridge & worked as a veterinary surgeon for nine years before pursuing a more musical career! She has since established herself as a versatile choral conductor with performances ranging from Bach’s Christmas Oratorio to a fully-staged production of Annie alongside directing regular Come and Sing workshops. In March 2020, when UK schools went online, Helen (with her children) started “Sing a Song a Day” a daily live singing session which received a special commendation from the Royal Philharmonic Society for their Inspiration Award.
Helen believes passionately that music is for everyone, and the friendships and community made through music-making can last a lifetime.
Helen is also the Musical Director of the Twyford Singers and the Tuesday Singers; former director of Laudamus, the Director of Singing Strings Workshop and a qualified Suzuki Violin and Viola teacher. She lives in Berkshire with her family.
